Modern comfort in beautiful quiet setting near Tuscan wonders

  5 out of 5

We loved spending the last week of December at Il Granaio. The wood-burning stove was fabulous, as were the modern comfortable furnishings and the wood-fired grill outside. Well equipped and meticulously kept. The home is surrounded by an ocean of rosemary and lovely landscaping; excellent for cooking. It is a peaceful site with beautiful views and walks, yet so close to wonderful places like Lake Trasimeno, Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena.. Ceri left numerous great suggestions on restaurants, groceries and local wine tasting. Would love to visit in all seasons; highly recommended.

A high quality villa with a fabulous pool in a beautiful location.

The old granary has been converted with high quality and taste. It sits by itself in the grounds of a large and lovely old farmhouse that is kept empty when the granary is rented out. It is quiet and fairly isolated. The pool is the best we have ever had in many a villa rental - beautiful green rough marble, gently salted and of a good size and depth. The dining area looks across the vineyard to Cortona, and is nicely shaded. The shaded/sunny loungers around the pool also work well throughout the day. The location in the middle of Castiglione del Lago, Cortona and Montepulciano provides easy access to these lovely old towns, with great coffee houses and restaurants.

Excellent place to stay in terms of location and quality of accommodation & facilities

  5 out of 5

We were warmly greeted by Irene on our arrival and were really impressed with the design and quality of the accommodation & the grounds. The welcome box was lovely and of a much higher quality than we have received at other properties. Riccardo came to see us and gave us a fascinating insight into the wine production and enabled us to buy some more bottles. It was lovely to be able to walk around the estate and to pick fresh fruit and vegetables form the gardens and we made full use of these as we love to cook. The pool was a definite highlight, so beautiful and such a good size compared to what is usually available. It was great to have the gardeners come daily and deal with the pool, rubbish and the BBQ we we used often. The only thing we would request would be more crockery as this was rather limited in the number of each item, however this is a really minor thing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we had had more than a week and would definitely come back. On our return we ordered some more wine from the estate which has just arrived, enabling our enjoyment of the holiday to continue.

Fantastic holiday

  5 out of 5

Fantastic property in a fantastic setting, rolling countryside, and being amidst the vines of a high quality working wine farm just takes it to another level. House and grounds are immaculate, the pool is stunning (not done justice by the photos) - and the team looking after everything led by Irene and Riccardo is fantastic, managing to be both unobtrusive and super helpful all at once. Highly recommended.

Too good to share!

We had a wonderful time at this lovely rural house. It is beautifully appointed and there is a feel of the modern mixed within a rural setting. It is clean and beautifully furnished with wine included in our welcome pack! The photos do not really do justice to the pool, bedrooms and surrounding area. It is so lovely we'd love to keep how good it is to ourselves. The lack of TV suited us perfectly and we had no problems with the WiFi whcih is also accessible by the pool. The grounds are extensive and collecting fresh fruit and veg from the gardens was a superb addition to our holiday experience. Each bedroom has en-suites which was perfect for our adult family. Air conditioning was much needed and we enjoyed some spectacular thunderstorms too. We loved Cortona and Castiglione and Fabio at the Poggio Bertaio winery gave a wonderful tour. Communication with the owner was excellent and travel could only be improved if you could fly to Perugia on a Saturday or lets were from Sunday to Sunday. We loved it. Thank you!
